Keep your look fresh and fashionable with these simple style tips from HÖRFA
It's not hard to slip into a rut when it comes to many things, especially with fashion.
What you bought last year can sometimes seem a lot less appealing than it did it the time of purchase.
Style can change dramatically with age; just how many times to do we look back at old photos and cringe and what monstrosities we had on back then?!!
It's sometimes difficult just to keep up with the latest trends, even the fit of clothes can change from season to season; one minute it's slim fit, then it's oversized...
Fortunately, HÖRFA are happily on hand to help. Find a few style tips below that could freshen up your daily look:
Match Your Colours
This is top of the list because it's the most important. Some colours are a match made in heaven and others can clash completely!
This is never an exact science as there's always contrasting opinions. Some say that "Blue and green should never be seen", but green is a colour made from blue and yellow, so they can all be paired together if done correctly.
It sounds like a bit of a cheat, but when you are selecting your clothes for the day, just do a quick Google search to find out what will go.
So, you've picked out a nice sky blue jumper; now look up what will go with that particular shade and you'll find a plethora of options presented to you at your fingertips - white, grey, beige, gold, dark blue - so now selecting what to pair with it becomes that much easier and you can walk out the front door confident in your choice.
Get the Right Fit
As mentioned earlier, the size and fit of clothes can often change, but this can also be personal preference too.
Have confidence and go for a slim or tailored fit clothing style to show off your confidence in your shape.
Ill-fitting clothes are never a good look. I'm sure everyone can relate to once wearing a suit that didn't fit right many years ago!
Watches will be the first thing that comes to mind here, and you can get a nice looking wrist watch for any kind of price; you do not have to spend out on this. Sure, watches can go into the thousands and more, but there's nice brands available for far less and you can pick up some absolute bargains. Try eBay, there's so many top brands on there going for just a few pounds, you wouldn't believe the choice available and the price they go for!
There's also many other accessories you can add, such as bangles or bracelets, which are timeless. There's an ever expanding choice available, with rope bracelets becoming more stylised than ever. All the top brands are providing these types of accessories now and you can spend a lot or a little, it's up to you. Keep an eye out at markets, there's often a stall that supplies handmade bracelets for a bargain.
Mix It Up
It's so very easy to get stuck in a cycle with your clothing schemes, especially with age.
Many of us have hit a dead end at some point and just worn the same old things over and over. A jeans and polo shirt pairing is timeless, but that doesn't mean you have to wear it time after time.
Mix it up - if you've worn a polo t-shirt on Saturday, then go for a buttoned shirt on Sunday.
It's also very easy to become samey with your colours. There's always a particular shade that you will like best and naturally make a beeline for when shopping.
Take a quick peek in your wardrobe and see if there's any particular colours you clearly haven't chosen for a while. You might find you don't have anything in red at all, or perhaps you have never bought anything in maroon or purple, but you have definitely got an excess of navy blue items. Something to keep in mind next time you're shopping for clothes.
Invest in Footwear
There's a reason why women are obsessed with shoes...
A nice pair of shoes can complete an outfit perfectly.
There's unending styles to choose from, so try to outdo your wife or girlfriend by building a collection bigger than hers! Shoes are very aligned with occasions, so choose the right footwear for the right situation.
Also remember that there's more colours in shoes than black and brown. The same goes for trainers; there's more than just white available so pick up a different colour next time you're looking.
Start becoming a bit more of a savvy shopper. Everyone loves bagging a bargain in the sales, but there's far more ways to get a good deal.
There's lots of buying and selling platforms around now, not just eBay anymore, so check them out and see if anything takes your fancy, you may be surprised and discover a whole new shopping platform you never even heard of before.
We have all been dragged into a charity shops unwillingly, whether it's by your wife or your mother, but there's no reason you can't have a bit of browse as well. There's always hidden gems for a fraction of the original price, if you just swallow your pride and take a look.
Refreshingly, we are becoming increasingly conscious of our impact on this planet and ways in which we can be more sustainable, so old clothes that are no longer wanted by the owner are more likely to end up in places where they can be reused, such as charity stores, eBay, or even clothes banks for the most needy.
Don't be proud, just think of all the nice clothes you have discarded yourself; there was nothing wrong with them, so all you are doing is essentially swapping clothes with someone just like yourself.
You can adapt your outfit according to the seasons, so dig out that nice tweed jacket in the autumn, and put on your smart overcoat during the winter months.
You can also apply this trend to the days of the week. It's nice to feel comfortable during the working week, so jeans and hoodies could do nicely during Mondays to Fridays; maybe make a bit more of an effort on Saturdays to look sharp for the weekend, and you could even rock your Sunday best to finish the week off in style.
Get Inspiration From Others
In this technology advanced age, we have got inspiration available at the click of a button.
Use your social media platforms to follow style icons, models, brands, or just people you know that have a nice style you can relate or aspire to.
If you're old-school and not on the 'Gram', then keep an eye out when watching tele. You can find inspiration everywhere in the programs you watch, from soaps to game shows. For example, former footballer Dion Dublin is always rocking a trendy, stylish number on 'Homes Under the Hammer' every day!
The big brands will always be there - Lacoste will always be making classic polo t-shirts; Ralph Lauren will always have the timeless Yarmouth shirts available to buy; Levi's will forever be making 501's... so wander away for a little while because you're able to go back at any time.
Go in search of something new and you'll soon discover an emerging brand that strikes a chord with you. Don't just go on what everyone else is wearing, take a long look around and try to find a brand that you like the look and feel of, and preferably one that no one else has heard of, so whenever you're representing your new label, it'll likely become a conversation starter with your friends, who are bound to ask about it.
English super-bantamweight champion and valued HÖRFA Family member Michael Ramabeletsa - pictured below - revealed recently that he always gets enquiries when wearing our Union Jack Sweatshirt.
So go off-piste, try something new and stand out from the crowd.
