With the World Cup Qualifying Campaigns coming to an end we now reach the International Friendly season.
The United States of America had a friendly tie against the European Champions Portugal both of whom have had contrasting qualifying campaigns with the Americans falling short of qualification for the World Cup next year in Russia. A game where our very own Weston McKennie of FC Schalke made his International Debut (Congratulations)
As expected it was a game which Portugal controlled and dominated all the key stats with 62% possession. Only a month after the World Cup hangover at the hands of Trinidad & Tobago had seen the US National Team field a young outfit, Americas new era.
21 Minutes in to the game Weston McKennie scored with a neat finish and produced the opening goal of the game to put USA in to a surprising 1-0 lead. Portugal equalised 10 minutes later through Dynamo Kyiv full back Vitorino Antunes.
