Lockdown rules as of June 15
It was way back in March, on the weekend of the 21st, when Prime Minister Boris Johnson ordered pubs, clubs, restaurants, leisure centres and gyms across the country to close as the Government announced the beginning of lockdown to combat the spread of coronavirus.
It's been a long time spent locked down at home, unable to see friends or family for many weeks, but now, all of a sudden, the rules have eased and everything is heading back to normal really quickly, albeit a different kind of 'normal'.
Strict social distancing guidelines will still be in place, with everyone expected to queue outside shops and keep to the 2 metres apart rule.
With new guidelines already announced, HÖRFA have compiled a brief recap of everything you need to know during the ease of restrictions:
New rules:
Shops reopened - Many non-essential shops - mostly retail - are allowed to reopen as of June 15, as longs as they comply with social distancing rules and Covid-secure guidelines.
Other places reopened - Zoos, safari parks, drive through cinemas also given green light to reopen.
Workplaces reopened - Many places of work, such as offices, are back in business as long as the social distancing can still be observed. The Government are still asking people to work from home where possible.
New public transport rules - From June 15, anyone using public transport will be required to wear a face covering. This also applies to all hospital visitors, with exemptions made for young children, disabled people, and those with breathing difficulties.
Support bubbles - Anyone who lives alone or is a single parent with children are allowed to form a 'support bubble' with one other household. This means they are allowed in the house without observing social distancing and even permitted to stay overnight.
Six is the magic number - Groups of up to six are allowed meet in outdoor spaces, which includes gardens.
Let us pray - Places of worship are open again, but for private prayer only.
Back to school - Years R, 1 and 6 have already returned to school. Secondary schools and colleges ar now opening to provide face-to-face suopport for Year 10 and 12 pupils, as well as 16-19-year-old students who are due to take key exams next year.
What is not allowed:
Housing market - The housing market is still suspended, with only contractual moves allowed to go ahead. Anyone in the initial stages of a purchase have been told to delay.
Last orders - Pubs, bars, restaurants, hairdressers are still not allowed to reopen until July 4 at the very earliest, the Government has said.
School's out for summer - Other than the year groups mentioned earlier, school is most definitely out for the summer! The Government had hoped to see schools bring back more pupils where possible but has conceded that this won't happen now until September.
Households on hold still - Different households are still not permitted to meet, although you are allowed to use bathrooms in other houses providing everything is wiped down after use.
£60 Fines - Police are still obliged to issue £60 fines for anyone flouting the rules of lockdown.
Our plea to you:
Please remember to be tolerant.
Everything we are doing is new and unfamiliar. That person that accidentally and inattentively comes to close to you has probably performed perfectly all day until then, so please exact patience with people, stay tolerant, forgiving, friendly and kind.
If someone needs a gentle reminder, then do so gently and they will be compliant and appreciative. Remember, we are all in the same boat, so let's treat each other well to get through this together.
Stay safe!
