Tommy Langford comes close in Commonwealth championship clash

HÖRFA amabassador and former British and Commonwealth middleweight champion Tommy Langford (21-4, 6KOs) was bravely defeated by unbeaten Lerrone Richards (12-0, 3KOs) by unanimous decision on April 27 at the SSE Arena in Wembley.

Langford’s constant pressure and aggression wasn’t quite enough to claim the vacant Commonwealth and WBO International super-middleweight titles.

Scores of 18-110; 118-111; and 116-113 were called for the Frank Warren fighter Richards at the end of the enthralling 12-rounds of 168bs action.

‘Sniper the Boss’ was extremely evasive and despite his best efforts, Langford just couldn’t land anything meaningful enough to rack up the rounds in his favour throughout the 36 minutes of ring time.

Tommy posted a message to his fans after the fight: “Very frustrating night at the office. I’ve lost a decision without really being in a fight. If that makes sense! Credit to Lerrone, he’s extremely good at his game. Dust myself down and go again! Thanks for all the well wishes and support!”

HÖRFA will keep you all updated on Tommy’s progress and next fight, so stay tuned!
