Globetrotting champion boxer Ashley Theophane becomes the latest member to join the HÖRFA family
North London’s Ashley ‘Treasure’ Theophane (50-8-1, 19KOs) is a former British super-lightweight champion that has fought and won in 12 different countries!
The go-getter had his first 14 fights in England, mostly in his home city of London, before taking himself abroad to Germany on three occasions, eventually winning his first ever belt – the Global Boxing Council welterweight title – in his 21st fight.
At the age of 31, he won the British super-lightweight title, which he defended successfully once – both times triumphing in the 12-round championship fights by knockout.
After winning six consecutive fights in America, when signed to Floyd Mayweather’s promotional stable, he challenged four-weight world champion Adrien Broner for the American’s WBA World super-lightweight title, headlining a sold-out MGM Grand show in Las Vegas.
His last 10 fights have been fought in nine different countries – Germany; America; Hungary; Ghana; Poland; Mexico; UAE; Romania; Denmark – and he has won them all!
His next fight on December 11 will be his first appearance back in the UK since 2009 – over 11 years ago!
Aged 40, the inspirational athlete is hard at work preparing to enter into his 60th professional contest against ‘The Savage’ Sam Eggington (28-7, 17KOs), once again on away turf in the West Midlands where his next opponent is from, who is also an ex-British champion, like Ashley.
As an amateur, Ash won 40 from 50 bouts, but was never completely suited to that style of fighting and wanted to turn professional as soon as he turned 18.
After 17 hard years as a pro, he is now a three-weight champion, having won the British super-lightweight belt; the GBC welterweight title twice; the IBO International welterweight title; and the German International super-welterweight bauble.
Ashley hails from a rough area of London where opportunities are limited for many unfortunate youths, and he has even written a book all about his struggles growing up and making it out of the mean streets of London to the bright lights of Vegas, titled ‘Raised by the Hood’ – you can buy a copy HERE
He shares his personal experiences with disadvantaged youngsters from his local area by running free workshops and boxing classes to give back to the community where he first came from.
He is an avid anti-knife campaigner determined to make a difference to the issues plaguing the youth in his capital city, “I was one of those kids 25 years ago. I changed my life after going to prison and had a successful boxing career.”
Good luck in your landmark 60th fight Ashley, from all of the family at HÖRFA!
